Frequently Asked Questions
Getting started
What do I need to get started?
A wallet address with tokenized RWA activity on Robinhood Chain — or a venue integration via the API/SDK. Point TaxTrace at that data and follow Getting Started.
Is TaxTrace a trading bot or auto-trader?
No. TaxTrace is a read-only compliance and tax-reporting engine. It never executes trades, never proposes swaps, and never asks anyone to sign a transaction.
Funds & control
Does TaxTrace hold my funds?
No. It never holds funds and cannot move them. See Security & Trust.
Will TaxTrace ask me to sign a swap?
No. You never sign a swap (or any other transaction) for the public reporting product. TaxTrace only reports on activity that already happened.
Do I need to deposit assets anywhere?
No. Individuals point at a wallet address. Venues integrate via the multi-tenant API and SDK. There is no public deposit flow.
Wash sales & cost basis
Does TaxTrace handle wash sales?
Yes. Tokenized securities are in scope for IRS §1091. TaxTrace applies wash-sale treatment in lot-level records so you and your advisor can review deductibility.
Which cost-basis methods are supported?
FIFO and specific identification (SPEC_ID). See Cost-Basis Methods.
Pricing & fees
Is there a TaxTrace token?
No. There is no protocol token and no on-chain fee. See Fees & Billing.
What does it cost to use TaxTrace?
Venues that embed the multi-tenant API/SDK are billed off-chain (subscription / usage metering). Individual access details will be communicated at launch — join the waitlist for updates.
Reports & exports
What reports can I get?
IRS Form 8949 and a Schedule D summary, plus Koinly, TurboTax, CSV, and JSON exports — for any tax year. See Reports & Filing.
What fields are in the export?
Lot-level rows with acquisition date, cost basis, sale date, proceeds, and gain/loss — mapped directly to Form 8949 and Schedule D.
Are the numbers accurate to the cent?
Yes. Amounts are tracked as exact integers and only formatted to cents at export, so totals always reconcile.
How do I prove a report wasn't altered?
Report hashes are Merkle-anchored on-chain via the Reporter. Anyone can recompute the root and confirm it matches. See Verifying Your Reports.
Is this tax advice?
No. TaxTrace produces records and reports to support your filing. Always review them with a qualified tax professional before filing.
Assets & audience
Which assets are supported?
Tokenized RWAs on Robinhood Chain that TaxTrace can price and lot-track. The app shows which assets are currently eligible.
Who is TaxTrace for?
Individuals who point at a wallet address, and B2B venues that embed the multi-tenant API and SDK for end-user reporting.
